MACON – Julia H. Corey, 90, passed away Thursday, September 9, 2010 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Chad Vaughn will officiate. The family will meet friends from 2 p.m. to service time on Saturday at the funeral home and asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Employee Fund at Carlyle Place, 5300 Zebulon Road, Macon, GA 31210.
Mrs. Corey, wife of the late Albert W. Corey, was a lifelong resident of Macon and was the daughter of the late John Joseph and Amaryllis P. Hall Higgison. She earned her B.A. Degree from Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville and was retired as a computer programmer from Robins Air Force Base after more than thirty-five years. Mrs. Corey was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church, the D.A.R. and the Red Hat Society.
Survivors include her children, Beth C. Hicks of Memphis, TN, John Corey of Ft. Myers, FL, Margaret Knoepflein and Ammie Edwards of Longwood, FL and Paul Corey of Macon; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
