Joshua Michael Thornton, 35, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 in Kansas City, KS. A Celebration of Life will be held in Kansas City and on Monday, April 23, at 11 a.m. at Rock Springs Church, (formerly Hephzibah Home), 6601 Zebulon Road, Macon, GA. with Pastor Craig Walden officiating. Burial will follow in High View Cemetery in Gray, GA. The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to the Methodist Home.
Joshua was born in Macon. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jesse Jackson Glawson, Richard B. and Sue Thornton. Joshua attended Mercy Church in Kansas City. He was proficient in computer technology and was employed with DST Systems as a Financial Services Operations Representative. Joshua was also a ballroom dance instructor and loved dancing and music. He was a devoted and loving son, brother, grandson, and friend to everyone he met. Josh will be remembered for his infectious smile, his special gift of encouragement to others, and for his love of God that flowed from his heart.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Jody Glawson Thornton; father, Mike (Renee) Thornton; brother, Jesse (Penny) Thornton; nephew, Jett Thornton; grandmother, Helen Jordan Glawson; aunts, Sheryl (Ian) Wilkinson, Jessica Glawson, Terry (Pat) Rabun; uncle, Ric Thornton; step-brother, Nikki (Emily) Ussery; cousins, Audrey (Lee) Prince, John (Erin) Wilkinson; step-niece, Molly Ussery; and several cousins.
