Joseph Benjemen Elder Jr.

Joseph Benjemen Elder Jr., 79, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2018. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 15, 2018 at Snow’s Memorial Chapel with Pastor Butch Mullis officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.

Joseph was born in Petersburg, VA to the late Joseph Elder Sr. and Pauline Walker Elder and was of the Baptist Faith.

He was employed as a fabrication tech with Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company. Joseph enjoyed working with model airplanes and entertaining by playing his banjo.

Survivors include his wife of 53 ½ years, Frances Miller Elder of Lizella; his daughter, Leslie (Phillip) Rogers of Macon; grandchildren, Cody Elder of Lizella, Griffin and Owen Rogers of Macon, and Laura Miller of Chester, VA.; his sister, Lena Mae Greer of VA.; sister-in-laws, Doris Brooks, Mary Miller, Harriet (Kenny) Frenier all of Colonial Heights, VA., Betty (Glenn) Buker of Coshocton, OH., Virginia (Larry) Conner of Dinwiddie, VA.; and a brother-in-law, George (Wanda) Miller of Colonial Heights, VA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased in death by his son, Robert F. “Bobby” Elder.
