John A. Williamson, Jr., 90, passed away Monday, September 11, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday at Wesley United Methodist Church with burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Greg Harrison and the Rev. Robby Kerr will officiate. The family will meet friends from 10 a.m. to service time on Friday at the church. The family suggests that memorial donations may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 4256 Hartley Bridge Road, Macon 31216 or to Heartland Hospice, 3312 Northside Square, Macon 31210.
Mr. Williamson, son of the late Addie Cook Williamson and John A. Williamson, Sr., was born in Cochran. Living in Macon most of his life, he was retired from Bank South and was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. His happiest moments were spending time with his family on vacations at Daytona Beach and Hilton Head. Mr. Williamson was preceded in death by his sisters Kathleen Carter and Joanne Cliett.
He is survived by his beloved family, his wife of sixty-six years, Ruth Smith Williamson; his children, Beverly (Ted) McCullough, Steve (Kathy) Williamson, Jeff Williamson and Julie Williamson; his grandchildren, April Williamson, Samantha (Jared) Exley and John Christian McCullough; his great grandchildren, Anthony Vasquez and Avery Grace Exley; his sister, Betty (Charlie) Lass of Augusta; several nieces and nephews.
The family shares their deep gratitude to Mr. Williamson’s devoted caregiver, Tracy Beltz and to the Staff of Heartland Hospice, especially Holly Gay, RN, for their gentle, loving and compassionate care.
