John E. Walker, 83, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono. Burial will be at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Philip Johnson and Rev. Jim Duggan officiating. The family will greet friends on Monday, May 7, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Snow’s Memorial Chapel. Mr. Walker was born in Warthen, Georgia to the late J.C. and Mary Elizabeth Shurling Walker. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria Norris Walker, mother of his children, Patricia Burgamy of Macon and Donna (Dick) Heard of Macon, granddaughter, Jenni Burgamy of Phoenix, AZ, and a great grandson, Trevor Hirschfeld of Phoenix, AZ. Mr. Walker was predeceased by his son-in-law, Rusty Burgamy. Later marrying Midge Sims Walker, who is survived by a son, Keith (Lisa) Bell of Lizella and a granddaughter, Melissa (Chase) Hinson of Fort Worth, TX and a great grandson, Brady Hinson of Fort Worth,TX., predeceased by a granddaughter, Lindsey Bell.
Mr. Walker was a graduate of Washington County High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was retired as Vice President of Industrial Welding and Tool Supply. Mr. Walker was very active in Bellevue Baptist Church, the PathFinders Sunday School Class and was a deacon emeritus and usher. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and brother.
He is survived by his two brothers, Carroll A. (Marianna) Walker of Macon, Donald (Elizabeth) Walker of Warthen, GA and several nieces and nephews.
