John H. “Jay” James, 81, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2010. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Tommy Jordan and Pastor Clint Jett officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Hospice, 6060 Lakeside Commons Drive, Macon GA 31210. The family will greet friends from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Mr. James was born in Monroe, County to the late John William and Lucy Curtis James. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jessie W. James. He was a graduate of Lanier High School and served in the United States Air Force. Mr. James was of the Baptist faith and was the owner and operator of Jay James Car Care Center. He was an avid racing fan, loved to hunt and play golf and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty nine years, Sara Crosby James of Gray, son, Phillip (Vicki) James of Gray, daughter, Allison (Edward) Kitchens of Augusta, four grandchildren, Ashley Collins, Steven Collins, Sara Kaitlin Kitchens and Taylor Nicole (Sam) Caldwell, sister, Betty Moore of Macon and several nieces and nephews.
Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery has charge of the arrangements.
