MACON – Jerry M. Payne, 74, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, March 14, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday at Ingleside Baptist Church with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. Tim McCoy will officiate. The family will meet friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Wednesday at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. They suggest that memorial contributions be made to the Macon Rescue Mission, 774 Hazel St, Macon 31201 or to Ingleside Baptist Church Building Fund, 834 Wimbish Road, Macon 31210.
Mr. Payne, son of the late William Mark and Annie Horne Payne, was born in Dublin and had lived in Macon most of his life. He was active in many organizations and had served on numerous local and state-wide boards and charities. Mr. Payne presently served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Macon Rescue Mission and had served on the Board of Directors of the Medical Center of Central Georgia and as President and District Governor in the Lions Club. He was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Faye Persons Payne of Macon; his daughter, LeAnne (Michael) Wilkes of Macon; two grandchildren, Ashley Wilkes and Jonathan Wilkes of Macon; his sisters, Frances Comer of Gray and Dorothy Mullis of Dexter; his brother, Bobby Payne of Macon and several nieces and nephews.
Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
