Jerry Bruce Estes went to meet his maker November 10, 2010, 14 days before his 68th birthday. Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday November 13, 2010 in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors. Pastor Jeff Morris will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Estes was born in Union, SC to the late Clarence Poole Estes and Minnie Lou Ivey Estes. He served his country in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Robins Air Force Base when a Georgia girl stole is heart. Mr. Estes was retired from the United Parcel Service with a 30 year safe driving award. He was an avid bowler, loved his family and had a generous heart. Mr. Estes was preceded in death by three brothers, Leroy Estes, Clarence Estes, Jr. and George Estes, and one nephew Donnie Estes. He was of the Baptist faith, and attended Tabernacle and Padgett Creek Baptist Church in Union, SC.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years Jean Davis Estes; children, Renee Thornton (Mike) of Macon, and Donny Wingers (Bonnie) of Jones County; grandchildren, Nikki Ussery of Macon and Brittany Curtis of Jones County; brothers, J.W. Estes (Rosa) and Donald Estes (Ruth) both of Union SC; sisters, Marion Estes, Ruby Whitmire (Billy), Martha Williams (Charles), and Mary Pridemore all of Union SC; sister-in-laws, Becky Estes of Union SC and Lottie Estes of Spartanburg SC; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to the donor's favorite charity. -Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery has charge of arrangements.
