Macon, GA—Mrs. Jane “Jan” Davis, 72, went home to be with her Lord on November 18, 2013. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Byron United Methodist Church in Byron, GA, with the Rev. Dr. Derek McAleer, Rev. Mike Morgan, and Rev. Tyler Plaxico officiating. Family will greet friends for the hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be private, in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family extends much gratitude to the staff of Pine Pointe Hospice, and the staff of the Oncology Department at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. Mrs. Davis was born in Columbus, GA and graduated from A.L. Miller High School, class of 1959. Several months after completing high school, she married the love of her life, Don Davis of Milledgeville, GA. Mrs. Davis always had a love for the Lord, family, and friends. She also had many talents including playing the piano, sewing, crocheting, gardening, and cooking. Upon Gen. Davis’ retirement, they enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the USA and Europe.
Mrs. Davis had a generous heart and enjoyed helping others in need. She always made a home for the family, no matter where Gen. Davis was stationed. She was a member of Byron United Methodist Church and the Village Green Garden Club.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her mother Mrs. Elizabeth Wilson, and a son Derek Charles Davis.
Survivors include her immediate family; her husband, Major General (Ret.) Don Davis of Byron, GA; son and daughter in law James Davis and Susan Davis of Bolingbroke, GA; father Charlie H. Wilson of Butler, GA; twin sister Nan Thompson of Butler, GA (formerly of Columbia, SC); and niece Chesley Thompson Gleason of Hilton Head, SC; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to her cousin Brenda McKinney.
