James Edward Stallings, Sr., age 85, of Macon, Georgia passed away December 1, 2023. A Rosary will be held Wednesday, December 6 at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, 746 Cherry St., Macon, GA at 5:30 pm with the Visitation following at 6:00. There will be a Mass on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church officiated by Father John Johnson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Kolbe Center, American Lung Association, or the donor’s favorite charity.
James was born in Silvertown, Georgia to the late Clarence and Thelma Fowler Stallings. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserve and served in Desert Storm. James authored a book “Georgia’s Confederate Soldiers Who Died as Prisoners of War 1861-1865”. He was the owner of Stallings Dental Company for over 50 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and attended St. Peter Claver Catholic Church.
Throughout his life, James was a member of many professional and civic organizations where he often had a leadership role. Among these he served as President of the National Association of Dental Laboratories, President of the Southeastern Conference of Dental Laboratories, President of the Georgia Society of The Sons of the American Revolution, Commissioner for the accreditation of dental technology schools for The American Dental Association, President of the Ocmulgee Chapter Sons of the American Revolution, Camp Commander for Edward Dorr Tracy Jr. Camp #18 Sons of the Confederate Veterans, President of Macon Noon Day Optimist Club, Member of First Families of Georgia, Member of Military Order of Stars and Bars, and he received the Gartland Award from the Diocese of Savannah.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, Ramona C. Stallings; son, James E. Stallings Jr (Amy) of Macon; daughter, Crystal E. Jump (Steve) of Forsyth; grandchildren, Michael Stallings, Clark Stallings, and Caty Fealko (Robert); three great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Huber of Deltona, Florida and Jan Streetman of Yatesville.
