James William Sheppard

Ivey- James William Sheppard passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011, in a local hospital.

Graveside Services will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Ivey Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Michael Woodam officiating. The Family will greet friends, Monday June 6, 2011 from 5:00 till 7:00 at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street. The family request that in lieu of flower donations be made to Heartland Hospice, 200 Northside Crossing Macon, GA 31210-2296 or to Ivey Baptist church, Building Fund, 107 Church Street Ivey, Georgia 31031

Mr. Sheppard was born in Macon to the late Mattie Clark Sheppard and James William Sheppard. He was retired from Armstrong World Corp where he worked in the maintenance department. He was a member of Ivey Baptist Church and served as a deacon. Mr. Sheppard was the former Mayor of Ivey and active City Councilman. He served in the U.S. Army and was Chairman of Wilkinson County Veteran’s Association, American Legion and lifetime member of the VFW. He was also a member of the Gordon Masonic Lodge 240.

He is survived by his wife: Verna Sheppard of Ivey; 2 sons: William (Kay) Sheppard of Ivey and Kenneth (Joan) Sheppard of Blountstown, Florida; Grandchildren; Nathan (Jaana) Sheppard and Jenna (Collier) Kidd, Christina(Anthony) Futtral and John Sheppard, 3 Great-grandchildren Chloe and Bryce Sheppard and Jasper Kidd; 1 Sister: Louise Riner of McRae, Georgia; Several Nieces and Nephews.
