James “Jim” Aubrey Riggins, 83, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 surrounded by his family. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Father Michael Kavanaugh officiating. Burial will be at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. A Rosary will be said on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. and a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pine Pointe Hospice Navicent Health, 6261 Peake Road, Macon GA 31210.
Mr. Riggins was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Adolphus Zachary Riggins and Reba Lorene Riggins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Sherling Riggins. Mr. Riggins was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. James was Sir Knight 4th degree member of Assembly No. 175. He was a past President of the Macon Touchdown Club. Jimmy served in the Army Reserves for two years and Navy Reserves for four years. He retired from Armstrong Cork Company after thirty nine years of service. He was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle.
He is survived by his three daughters, Vickie (Blair) Vincent of Blackshear, GA, Cathy (Bill) Groff of Atlanta, GA, Bonnie (Jim) Cocco of Cumming, GA, eight grandchildren, Valerie (Jason) Poppell, Aubrey (Jennifer) Cason, Kennington Groff, Camden Groff, Tyler Sheffield, Heather Cocco, Jill (Mike) McCune and Kristi Bruce, three great grandchildren, Eliza McCune, Jack McCune and Jaxson Poppell and siblings, Norma Arnett and Sheri (Tom) Howard and several nieces and nephews.
