James Daniel Lance, 91, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2015. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday at Central Fellowship Baptist Church with burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Rodney Queen and the Rev. John Prettyman will officiate. The family will meet friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Thursday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Gideon’s International.
Mr. Lance, son of the late Charles Wesley and Margaret Crane Lance, was born in Detroit, MI. He served with the U. S. Army Air Corps in Italy during World War II and with the Naval Reserve. Mr. Lance retired after forty years as an aircraft mechanic with Robins Air Force Base. He was a member of Central Fellowship Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for sixty years. He was a member of the American Rose Society and was a past president of the Middle Georgia Rose Society. Mr. Lance was preceded in death by his grandson, James Daniel Lance, II and by his “other mother,” Lucille Casey.
Survivors include the family he adored, his wife of seventy years, Carolyn Grace White Lance; four sons, Donnie (Carolyn) Lance, Ronnie (Linda) Lance, Gary (Sharyl) Lance and Kenneth (Cathy) Lance; eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren.
