James "Gus" Augustus Jones, III

James Augustus “Gus” Jones, III, 74 went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 11, 2023. A Celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Snow’s at Macon Memorial Park with Pastor Lee Griffin officiating, please come dressed in your casual attire. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Mr. Jones will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon Georgia 31210.

Mr. Jones was born September 26, 1948 in Cordele, Georgia to the late James Aubria Jones and Dora Mae Knight. He proudly served his country in the United States Army where he saw action in the Vietnam War and earned the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Brothers of the Vietnam, Chapter 946, Moose Club, and American Legion. He loved to fish, play cards, and play Chicken Foot with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Faye Hood; step-father, Ray E. Knight; step-mother, Geneva Jones; brother-in-laws, Curtis Thompson, Sr., and Ronnie Hood, Sr.

Left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Ann Thompson, Randall Jones, Edward Stephens Jr. (Dianne), and Brenda Adams (Roger); daughter, Frances Baer (Dennis); four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
