James Bernard Chappell, 77, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at his residence. The family will greet friends on Saturday, June 28, 2014 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to donor’s favorite charity.
Mr. Chappell was born in Portage, PA to the late Harry T. and Edna Mae Long Chappell. James was one of thirteen children. He served in the United State Air Force for twenty three years as an Electrician and after retirement, he worked as a Civilian with Robins Air Force Base for thirteen years. He loved the great outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a devoted and loving, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Kelley Heath Chappell of Lake Oconee, his children and their mother, Patricia Bowlin, Teri Gernstein of Omaha, NE, Tim Chappell Tranni (Patrick) of Boston, MA, Kenneth Chappell of Seattle, WA, Karen Kitchens (Tommy) of Bonaire, GA, step-children; Vickie Heath Cox (Mike) of Macon, George Kelley Heath (Saralyn) of Sharpsburg, GA, twelve grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and his canine companion, Kate.
