James Estes Boyer, 84, of Graham Road, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at a local hospice facility. The family will greet friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, Monday, July 31, 2023, at Snow’s at Macon Memorial Park. A celebration of his life will follow at 2:00pm, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Gary Thomas officiating. Private interment will be at Macon Memorial Park.
Mr. Boyer was born October 7, 1938, in Autauga County, Alabama to the late Joseph Estes Boyer and Lelar Pearl Sides Boyer. Mr. Boyer honorably served his country with the United States Army and was an accomplished businessman. He was the owner of several businesses in the aviation, transportation, warehousing and logging industries, including developing one of the first collapsible log trailers, revolutionizing the way logs were unloaded at mills. Mr. Boyer loved to fish, however, his favorite pastime was getting together with his grandchildren.
Mr. Boyer is survived by his wife of sixty-two years: Helen Newton Boyer; daughter: Jennifer Craven (Sean Judd); grandchildren: Bryan Craven and Benny Craven; great-grandchildren: Kyleigh Craven and Bentley Craven and his siblings: Elizabeth “June” Lyon, Raymond Boyer, Kaye Markert, Deborah King, Mickey Boyer, Gary Boyer and Lisa Giles.
