Jacqueline “Jackie” Hartley Harrelson, 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 25, 2017 surrounded by her family. A Celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Corbitt and Rev. Lance Merritt officiating. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 886 Mulberry St., Macon GA 31201.
Mrs. Harrelson was born in Telfair County, but grew up in Alamo, Georgia. She graduated from Wheeler County High and from Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville in 1950. She was preceded in death by her parents, Milo and Rosalie Hartley and sister and brother-in-law, Yvonne Hartley Gross and Merrill Gross. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Edison Harrelson, whom she married in 1950 and spent 4 years in San Diego, California while he served in the U.S. Navy. She has lived in Macon since 1954.
For several years she was employed by the Bibb County School System, teaching at Morgan, Winship, and Tinsley Elementary Schools. She was a charter member of West Highland Baptist Church where she served in many positions including teaching children in Sunday School for 45 years. She was a devoted and loving, mother, grandmother, great grandchildren, sister and aunt.
She is survived by her daughter, Jan (Glenn) Harrelson Williams of Macon, Kenneth Marion (Kim) Harrelson of Juliette, grandchildren, Ginger Broxton Fisher of Macon, Kenneth Shane Harrelson of Juliette, great grandchildren, Annamarie and Abbigail Fisher, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Margarette (Phil) Sledge and many nieces, nephews and cousins.The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Barbara Little, Crystal Redding, Pam Mills, Sharon Redding, Carolyn Hall and Jamila Brown for the love and faithful care given to Mrs. Harrelson.
