Jack Gerald Jennings, Sr., 72, passed away Friday, March 13, 2015. A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. F. Timothy Steffen will officiate. The family will greet friends from 6 until 8 PM Monday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P. O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 or Toys For Tots, 18251 Quantico Gateway Drive, Triangle, VA 22172 or the donor’s favorite charity.
Jack was a life-long entrepreneur having owned J. Jennings Construction Company, Jennings Ltd., and Middle Georgia Skills and Trade Learning Center.
He wrote and received a grant to create a school to teach the building trades. He took troubled young people to include those getting out of prison and taught them cabinetry, general carpentry, heavy equipment operation, and helped them get their GED. Many young lives were changed because of his investment in them. This being one of his proudest accomplishments.
Jack was the son of the late Betty Knight Jennings and Hugh C. Jennings, Sr. and was preceded in death by his brother, Hugh C. Jennings, Jr. He was a United States Marine veteran, having served in Vietnam. Jack was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a 32nd Degree Mason, and a member of the Scottish Rite.
Jack is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Jennings of Macon; sons, Jerry (Tori) Jennings, Jeff (Donna) Jennings, and Drew Jennings all of Macon; grandson, Dalson Jennings of Macon; siblings, Jimmy (Sandy) Jennings of Memphis, TN, Hulene Jennings of Stockbridge; Bill (Jeanne) Jennings of Miami, FL.
