Harold Arthur Wilson

Harold Arthur Wilson Sr. 79, of Macon, Georgia passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 surrounded by his family, after a brief but courageous battle with bone cancer. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, August 5, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Snow’s at Macon Memorial Park. The family will greet friends for a time of visitation from Noon until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Richard McNair officiating.

Harold was born on September 1, 1944, in Macon, Georgia, to the late Harold and Ellen Wilson. Mr. Wilson grew up in Macon, Georgia and attended Bibb County schools. He was married to the love of his life for 60 wonderful years. Mr. Wilson never met a stranger and always put the needs of others above his own. His hobbies included watching western movies, The Andy Griffith Show, as well as many other iconic TV shows of the past. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family, playing the GA Lottery, fishing with his sons, and mowing the grass every Saturday, rain or shine. Mr. Wilson often attended Stone Creek Baptist Church with his daughter and her family. Harold retired from Colonial Bakery after 30 years of service and then later returned to the workforce to work at Kroger for over 15 years as a service representative.

Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents Harold Wesley and Ellen Bales Wilson, his baby son, Wesley Wilson, and brother, Kenneth Wilson. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle.

He is survived by his loving wife, Inez Wilson, children, Harold (Michelle) Wilson, Mike (Angie) Wilson, and Melissa W. (Tony) McWhirter, grandchildren, Callie (Chris) Dukes, Jacob McWhirter, Katharine (Blake) Lee, Megan (Travis) Childree, and Micaela (Robbie) Hill, great grandchildren, Gracie, Addyson, Wesley, and Baby Dukes who Mr. Wilson was anxiously anticipating the arrival of in Jan. 2025. He is also survived by a sister Dianne (Wayne) Yawn and sister- in-law, Helen Bazemore, and her fur baby “Tiny” who helped the family provide care and comfort to Mr. Wilson over the past few months. Mr. Wilson also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews to forever cherish his memory.
