Grace Howard Mercer, 99, passed away Friday, August 3, 2018. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 11:00am in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10:00am until the service.
Grace was born in Fitzgerald, Georgia to the late Elmer and Flura Dixon Howard and was preceded in death by her husband, Durward Belmont Mercer; and brothers, Jerry Howard, Leroy Howard, Lewis Howard and Edwin “Scrappy” Howard. She was a switchboard operator with Southern Bell and a homemaker. Grace was a member of Vineville Baptist Church and enjoyed ceramics and needlework. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Survivors include her children, Durward Mercer, Jr., Cheryl Mercer (Sam Mason) and Scott Mercer (Lucy); granddaughters, Laura and Lindsey Mercer; sister-in-law, Laverne Howard and numerous nieces and nephews.
