Bessie Geraldine Alligood Watts, 95, died Wednesday, March 3, 2021. A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with Reverend Robbie Kerr officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heartland Hospice, 200 Northside Crossing, Macon, Georgia 31210.
Geraldine was born in Milan, Georgia to the late Mattie Gilder and Clifford Alligood and was raised with her brothers and sister in McRae, Georgia. After moving to Macon, she met her husband Tom. They married on October 18, 1942 and together raised six children.
Geraldine’s family was her joy. She loved cooking for them, traveling with them, listening to their stories, laughing with them over a sweet treat or two, looking at their pictures and books, and catching up with them in letters and phone calls. She loved them and she loved them well. She also loved the Lord, to sing Amazing Grace, and spending time with her friends. She knew no strangers and will be remembered for her kindness, joy and humor.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Tom Watts, and by her siblings Stella, Grover, Adger, and Edwin. She is survived by her siblings Bobby and Maurice and her children Thomas Watts, Barbara Gambill, Beverly Mainor, Dorothy Gaines, John Watts, Ted Watts. She also is survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
