Georgia Lois Johnson Varnadore, 93, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Monday, December 31, 2012 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, January 4, 2013 at Wheeler Heights Baptist Church, Riggins Mill Road, Macon with interment in Middle Georgia Memory Gardens. The Rev. Franklin Etheridge will officiate. Visitation will be at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street on Thursday from 5 – 7 p.m. Flowers are accepted or memorial donations may be made to Wheeler Heights Baptist Church, 4318 Riggins Mill Road, Macon, GA.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jessie Birt Johnson and H. P. Varnadore and by a granddaughter, Lisa Ann Wiley. Mrs. Varnadore was the former owner of Eastside Seafood Co. and had worked for Piggly Wiggly Stores before retiring at age seventy-five from the Georgia Forestry Service. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother and was loved by all who knew her. She was a devoted Christian and a member of Wheeler Heights Baptist Church and the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class. Mrs. Varnadore was known to everybody as “Granny.”
She is survived by the family she adored, her daughters, Jean (Jimmy) Dix and Millie Ann Johnson; her brother, James (Barbara) Veal; her grandchildren, Bobby Woodard, Delores (Lamar) Godfrey and Jessie (Casey) Crawford; five great grandchildren, Christopher Godfrey, Bryan Godfrey, Whitney (Chris) Driggers, Katie Wiley, Jessie Woodard; four great-great grandchildren, Logan Godfrey, Skylar Driggers, Landon Driggers, J. J. Woodard; several nieces and nephews.
