MACON – George Lawrence Meadows, Sr., passed away on Monday, March 12, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Tim Long and the Rev. Richard Jelley will officiate. The family will greet friends from 7 – 9 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. They suggest that those who wish may make memorial contributions to First Evangelical Church, 3601 Fulton Mill Road, Macon, GA 31206.
Mr. Meadows, son of the late Guy E. Meadows, Sr. and Rebecca Whitehurst Meadows, was born in Macon and attended Lanier High School. He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Rev. C. P. Meadows, Guy Elmore Meadows, Jr., Harold M. Meadows, Ralph Meadows, Horace Meadows, Edward Meadows, Elizabeth Pelt and Billy Ward. Mr. Meadows owned and operated Georgia Flooring Company for thirty-eight years and after retiring from his company, he worked for Suttles Flooring Company. Mr. Meadows was a member of First Evangelical Church.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years, Margaret Jean Meadows; his son, George Lawrence Meadows, Jr. of Macon; his daughter, Lynn (Jimmy) Inglett of Macon; grandsons, John Meadows and Jordan Meadows of Jones County; step grandson, Michael Inglett of Macon and several beloved nieces and nephews.
