Frances Hood Gurley

Frances Hood Gurley, 81, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, August 6, 2014. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue with burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Herbert Williams will officiate. The family will meet friends from 5 – 7 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Gurley was preceded in death by her husbands, Raymond Waddell Hood and Ollie Gurley and by her son, Ronnie G. Hood. She was born in Cordele the daughter of the late Wilton P. and Leola Ingram Knight. Mrs. Gurley served several years as Hostess at Morrison’s Cafeteria and Ramada Inn. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she was also a member of Young-N-Heart Senior Group. She was an avid crafter and enjoyed painting, ceramics and macramé.

Mrs. Gurley is survived by her loving family, her son Keith (Laurie) Hood of Kathleen; her daughter, Kay (Pat) Pensiero of Shelton, CT; her daughter-in-law, Faye Hood of Perry; her beloved grandchildren Tom Pensiero, Donna Bartlett, Laura Abbott, Greg Hood, Anna Hood, Emily Hood and nine great grandchildren.
