Ms. Mullis, the daughter of the late Dr. Domingo Tambuatco and Marie Haus Tambuatco of Manila, Philippines, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 29, 1926. After her father completed his medical residency in the U.S., the family returned to the Philippines. The oldest of four children, she lived through the Japanese occupation of Manila during World War II. After the war she married the late Dr. Leonard H. Campbell (a Captain in the U.S. Army) and returned to the United States.
While raising a family she continued her education earning degrees from Wesleyan, Mercer, and the University of Georgia. A firm believer in giving back to the community, she was a tireless volunteer and in later years served two terms on Macon City Council. Two of her proudest public service accomplishments were helping to found the Greater Macon Women Business Owners Association, and through her efforts on council, helping to make the Marriot City Center Hotel project a reality.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Werner) Wingen of Cumming; son, Mark (Joy) Campbell and granddaughter, Olivia Boesger; daughter, Pamela (Rick) Maxwell and grandchildren, Spencer and Mallory Maxwell all of Macon; Gerald S. Mullis of Macon; brothers, Dr. Felix (Flora) Tambuatco of Manila and Domingo (Marissa) Tambuatco of Atlanta; sister, Mariese Piit of Manila and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins throughout the U.S. and Philippines.
