Evelyn O. Phelps

Evelyn S. Phelps, 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 9, 2016. A Celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Neely and Rev. Steve Waldorf officiating. The family will greet friend from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Shurlington United Methodist Church, 2060 Shurling Drive, Macon GA 31217.

Evelyn was born in Macon, Georgia to the late James H. and Marion Ophelia Sawyer. She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Q. Callaway, two sisters, Alice S. Edmondson and Susie S. Westmoreland, and brother, James S. Sawyer. She was retired from Robins Air Force Base and was a member of Shurlington United Methodist Church and a former member of Cross Keys United Methodist Church. She was a devoted and loving, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister and aunt.

She is survived by her two daughters, Evelyn O. McCook of Macon, Sue Lynn S. Power of Rome, sister, Marion S. Ray of Macon, brother, Howard E. Sawyer of Macon, seven grandchildren; Larry Callaway, Jr., Sharon C. Hunter, Stephanie Power, Stacy P. Murray, Jennifer McCook, Melissa McCook, and Skyler Callaway, several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
