Ernest Chester Campbell, Sr. 98, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 1, 2022. A Celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Rev. Robbie Kerr officiating. Entombment will be private in Macon Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will greet friends from 3:00 p.m. until service time.
Chester was born to the late Dorsey Lee and Tyrue Manley Campbell in White Plains, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his wife of seventy years, Jean Milne Campbell and his grandson, Brian Campbell and his daughter-in-law, Sandra Campbell, siblings, Charles Campbell, Julian Campbell, Louise Kirksey and Lewis Campbell. He was a graduate of Sparta High School in 1940 and served in the United States Army Air Corps., during World War II. Chester was retired after thirty-eight years of service from Robins Air Force Base as Branch Chief of Accessories. He was a member of Wesleyan Drive Baptist Church for over thirty years. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion Post #3, and Masonic Member of the Azalea Lodge #898 of Mobile, AL.
His memory will forever be treasured by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Children, Ernest “Ernie” (Jeanie) Campbell, Jr. of Macon, Roderick Lee Campbell of Versailles, MO, Donna Campbell (Barry) Collins of Milledgeville, James Westmoreland “Westy” (Liza) Campbell of Bel Air, MD, grandchildren, Erin (Jonathan) Campbell Atkinson, Caleb (Kelli) Campbell, Nathan Campbell, Kyle (Amber) Collins, Savannah Campbell, Sawyer Campbell and Grant Campbell and great grandchildren, Campbell Atkinson, Will Atkinson, Carson Campbell, Kaylin Campbell and sister, Alice Hartley and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the love and care given to Mr. Campbell, the caregivers, Violet, Willie, Vickie and Betty and to the Heartland Hospice Care Team.
