Elsie Sapp Darling, 92, passed away Monday, June 13, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her family. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue with the Rev. Jim Duggan officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Woodlawn Cemetery, Eastman with Hank Sapp officiating. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will her nephews, Jerry Sapp, Jack Sapp, Dean Sapp, Hank Sapp ,Casey Sapp, Dewey Reams, Larry Reams, Billy Reed, Kenneth Reed and friends, Larry Pope and David Pickard. The family will meet friends from 10 a.m. to service time on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bellevue Baptist Church Building Fund, 5925 Price Road, Macon 31210.
Mrs. Darling was preceded in death by the love of her life, Lewis K. Darling with whom she held hands for sixty-seven years. She was born in Eastman the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Bertie Gulley Sapp and was a graduate of Chauncey High School. She was a graduate of Georgia/Alabama Business College and was Secretary and Treasurer retired from Croft-Mullins Electric Company. Mrs. Darling was a member of Bellevue Baptist where she served as Sunday School Teacher and a member of WMU. Above all she loved her church family and was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was the sister of the late Joseph A. “Pete” Sapp and Barney J. Sapp.
She is survived by those she loved most, her daughter, Gloria Darling (Patrick) Ryan, her granddaughter, Wendy Darling and nieces and nephews.
The family extends their deepest appreciation to Dot Mitchell, Cora Ingram and Pecola Mastergables for their compassionate and gentle care given during these days. We will always be grateful.
