Edwin D. Herrin, Sr., 89 passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Friday, March 4, 2016. Funeral Services will be held at Vineville Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 8 at 11 a.m. with the Dr. Bill Hardee officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Georgia War Veterans Cemetery in Milledgeville. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Edwin was born in Blackshear, GA to the late William Owen and Rachel Griffin Herrin. He was preceded in death by his sister, Madras Ammons and daughter-in-law, Fay Herrin. Edwin retired from CSX Railroad as a supervisor. He served during World War II with the U.S. Army. Edwin was a member of Vineville Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was on the review board for Boy Scouts at church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Waycross.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 68 years, Kathleen Conner Herrin of Macon; children, Kathy (Don) Kendrick of Gray, Becky (Steve) Burt of Ft. Worth, TX, Eddie Herrin of Ocala, FL, John (Peggy) Herrin of Mechanicsville, VA, and Tom (Debby) Herrin of Yorktown, VA; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Ella Carter of Hoboken, GA; and adopted son, Larry (Malinda) Witt.
