Edwin "Ed" Hogan Jr.

Edwin “Ed” Morgan Hogan, Jr., 62, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, May 19, 2013. A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Gilead Baptist Church. Burial will be private in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Craig Holmes and Pastor Kevin S. Lucas officiating. The family will meet friends from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gilead Baptist Church, Missions Fund, 4800 Ivey Drive, Macon GA 31210.

Mr. Hogan was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Edwin Morgan Hogan, Sr. and Constance Williams Hogan. He was a graduate of Lanier High School, Mercer University and Denver Theological Seminary 1980 - 1982. Ed loved playing golf. He was a five year member of the golf team at Lanier and won the Macon Junior City Golf Championship his senior year “1967-1968”. Ed was an avid SEC College Football fan, but “his” team was the Nebraska Corn Huskers, where he served with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at the University of Nebraska Lincoln from 1979 to 1980. Mr. Hogan was a devoted member of Gilead Baptist Church and revered his 1611 King James Bible. One of the greatest joys in Ed’s life was to hear that a sinner had been saved and had the hope of Heaven for eternity.

He is survived by his loving wife of twenty three years, Jeanie Riley Hogan of Macon, mother, Constance W. Hogan of Macon, sister, Kathy H. (Cleve) Cunningham of Macon, brother, Dr. Stephen F. (Margi) Hogan of Corvallis, OR, nieces, Katie (Jason) Mangrum of Perry and Brooke Harmon of Huntsville,AL, nephews, Robert (Katherine) Cunningham of St. Louis, MO, Mark (Janey) Hogan, Justin Hogan and Jonathan Hogan all of Los Angeles, CA, great nephew, Hunter Mangrum of Perry, mother-in-law, Nan K. Riley of Macon, sister-in-law, Peggy R. (Ferris) Harmon of Huntsville, AL, and his beloved cats, Bo, Mac and Frazier.
