Edward Allen Walsh, 55, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2015. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 28 at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Allan J. McDonald officiating. The family will greet friends following the Mass in the Social Hall. A private Burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery for family only.
Edward was born on November 17, 1959 in Macon, Georgia to John Garner Walsh and Shirley Shaheen Walsh. He was educated at St. Joseph Catholic School, Mount de Sales Academy, Macon Junior College and The University of Georgia with a degree in Business Education. He then received his MBA from Georgia College and State University.
Edward was active in The Boys Scouts, Ducks Unlimited, and coaching Freedom Park Softball. Edward was a member of Idle Hour Country Club, Downtown Macon Rotary Club and The Georgia Forestry Association. He served on the board of The MedCen Foundation, Saint Joseph’s Catholic School, Mount de Sales Academy, Labor of Love Campaign for St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Campus Clubs for Christ and Macon State Foundation Board. He also served as president of the Georgia Chapter of Certified Commercial Investment Members.
Edward began his work career at Stokes-Shaheen Produce Company, Wendy’s and Piggy Wiggly. After graduate school he worked at The Georgia Bank, UARCO Business Forms, Sheridan, Solomon Kernaghan Commercial Realtors before forming The Summit Group in 1994.
Edward loved his church, his family, and his friends. He loved golfing, fishing and hunting at Pratt Creek Farm, and sharing blueberries from his orchard in Wrightsville. His desire was to make Macon a better place for all by his work with The BOLD Group, Consolidation for Macon/Bibb County, local campaigns and Campus Clubs for Christ.
Edward was preceded in death by his siblings, Anthony Paul Walsh and Donna Maria Walsh. He is survived by his parents; his wife of 28 years, Jill Sawyer Walsh; daughters, Katherine (Zack) Walsh Emerick and Anna Claire Walsh; brothers, Johnny (Judy) Walsh Jr. and Kevin (LeeAnne) Walsh; sister-in-law, Isabel (Randy) Walsh Vann; mother-in-law, Alice Sawyer; sister-in-law, Jayne (Scott) Smith, brother-in-law, Jeff (Carol) Sawyer; and nieces and nephews, Emily (Dustin) Walsh Edwards, Johnny III, Sara, Carrie, Matthew, and Mary Katherine Walsh; Reid, Ali and Jack Sawyer; Sam (International Student); uncles, Bill Walsh and John Shaheen; and Godmother, Aunt Rosa Shaheen.
