Edward, also known as “Mal” and “Ed”, led a life of service and dedication to his country, community, and family. He honorably served in the Air Force and his military associations were a source of great pride for him. He retired as a Corrections Officer at the Georgia Department of Correction. He was a graduate of Willingham High School.
Ed was passionate about his involvement in the Vietnam Veterans of America and other Vietnam veteran activities, contributing to the organizations at both the local and state levels in both Florida and Georgia.
Ed’s great sense of humor will forever be cherished by his loved ones. He is survived by his long-time partner, Linda D’Agostino of Ithaca, NY; daughters, Sandra Cranford of San Jose, CA, Theresa Smith of Panama City, FL, Heather Cranford Smallwood of Macon, GA, Erin Cranford Wilson of Panama City FL and Susan Cranford Johnson, Carthage, NC. He was preceded in death by his son, Edward Mallory Cranford II; mother, Cornelia G. Cranford; and father, Edward Mallory Cranford.
A solemn military graveside service was held at Andersonville National Cemetery of December 7, 2023 where Ed was laid to rest with the respect and honor befitting his service to his country. The arrangements were gracefully handled by Snow’s at Macon Memorial Park, a trusted funeral home located in Macon, GA.
In this time of mourning, let us remember Ed as a man of integrity, strength, and humor. His legacy will forever inspire and guide us, and his memory will be eternally cherished.
