Dorothy Whitlock McEachin, age 100, of Macon, Georgia passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at home surrounded by her loved ones. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, January 29, at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Snow's Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street, with Pastor Brad Blackmon officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until service time. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
A native of Uvalda, Georgia, Mrs. McEachin was the daughter of Robert Albert Whitlock and Ida Durden Whitlock. She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Harry H. McEachin, sister Eleanor Wooten, and brother Lt. James Leonard Durden, who died in France in WWII. She is survived by her son, Harry George McEachin, daughter, Alexia M. Lieber (Bill) all of Macon, two grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one great great grandson, and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy grew up on a farm outside of Uvalda. She graduated from Brewton Parker and taught school in Long Pond and Hazlehurst. She married Harry H. McEachin on December 19, 1948. She was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church since 1956. She was a homemaker and helped in the community serving in her local Kiwanis Club of North Macon.
The family would like to thank Traditions Health Hospice and their staff for their services over the past several years. Also, they would like to thank her caregiver, Nienesha, owner of U Matter Homecare, and the ladies in the Congregational Care Ministry at Ingleside Baptist Church.
