Donald Lee “Nick” Nichols, 83, passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2021. A Celebration of His Life will be held on Friday, August 13, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Horton officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation, 2575 Chantilly Dr. N.E., Atlanta GA 30324.
Nick was born in Savannah, GA to the late Beaurchael and Minnie Anderson Nichols. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Rovolis Nichols; granddaughter, Daphne White; and sister, Wilma Snowden. He was retired as a truck driver with Haugabook Oil Company. Nick attended Lizella Baptist Church, and he played the harmonica in several Bluegrass Bands. He was an avid Bass fisherman. Nick was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle.
He is survived by his children, William (Sharon) Jacobs, Jr. of Savannah, Kathy (Mike) Kirila of Virginia, Donnie (Janet) Nichols of Macon, Renee (Jim) Walder of Virginia; grandchildren, Billie Jo Walker, William Pate Jacobs, III, Sammye Jacobs, Walter White, Stephen White, Katie Kirila, Nicholas Heimerich, Carissa Walder, Courtney Walder; five great grandchildren; brother, Beaurchael Nichols; and several nieces and nephews.
