Donald Lester Bolden, 88, of Macon, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, surrounded by his family. Donald was a faithful Christian and a devoted husband of 48 years, who had a kind and generous spirit.
He was born on August 28, 1936, in Byron, Georgia to Mozell Arnold Bolden and Paul Lester Bolden. He attended Lanier High School and joined the United States Navy in 1953 and received an honorable discharge the same year.
In 1976, he married Nita Murphy Thompson and they resided in Macon for the majority of their marriage. Donald began working for Keebler in 1976 as a machinist and retired from there in 1999.
Donald and Nita enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. They volunteered many hours, helping countless others in middle Georgia, being the hands and feet of Jesus. Donald was a long-time member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and, more recently, a member of Ingleside Baptist Church. He was a devoted father and a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf and was an avid and knowledgeable car enthusiast.
Donald is survived by his loving wife, Nita, his daughters Vickie (Rick) McLaughlin and Lynne (Jim) Wicker, his son Greg Bolden, stepdaughter Ronita Thompson Caldwell, and stepson John R. (Diana) Thompson, brothers Randy Bolden and Lester Bolden, seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren, along with a large extended family.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, 3969 Mercer University Drive, Macon, GA at 11 o’clock. Burial will be private.
In lieu of food and flowers, the family suggests donations to be made to a veterans service organization or to Habitat For Humanity.
