Delores "Dee" Gurr Mitchell

A celebration of life for Dee will be held Friday, November 4, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Snow's Memorial Chapel, 3077 Pio Nono Ave, Macon, Georgia 31206, followed by a visitation. Joel Pritchard will officiate. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dee's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Dee was born in Unadilla, Georgia the daughter of the late Lillian Moore Gurr and Charlie Oswell Gurr. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Merri Mitchell and Mindy Carswell, her brother, Charlie Gurr and great-grandson, Colt Farris. Dee was the former secretary for Snow's Memorial Chapel for over 28 years and was a member of Lizella Baptist Church. Dee was a graduate of Vienna High School where she was in Beta Club, was on the Honor Roll, and played All-State basketball. She attended Middle Georgia College, where she was awarded May Queen and Miss MGC. She was a member of the college choir. Dee sang with The Trebles and The Blest gospel groups for many years.

Dee is survived by her daughter, Kay Farris (Ronnie) of Lizella; grandchildren, Nick Farris (Kaitlyn), Natalie Ivey (Mat), Ariele Carswell; great-grandchildren, Grayson Farris, Rainey Farris, and Addilyn Ivey; nieces and nephews, Jeff Gurr, Vikki Baker, TiAn Vetter, and Chris Mitchell.
