Charles “Chuck” “Pop Pop” “Pops” “Slick” Robert Tidwell, 85, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, August 21, 2017 at 10:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father David Koetter officiating. Rev. Jay Meadows will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. A Vigil Service with Rosary will begin Sunday at 4:00pm at Holy Spirit Catholic Church and the family will receive friends following the Rosary until 7:00pm. Chuck was born in Macon, Georgia to the late William Cicero Tidwell and Annie Mae Holland Tidwell. He was preceded in death by his son, Charles R. Tidwell, Jr.; daughter, Terrie Lynn Doernbach; and sister, Hilda Waldrop. Chuck was retired from the United States Air Force after serving twenty years. He was later a Restaurant Manager with Checkered Apron, a Parts Manager with Capitol Cycle, a Greeter at Whiskey River, owned a mobile car wash business, and ran concessions at Freedom Park. Chuck was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, where he was very active in church ministries and was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus. He was also active in the Macon Touchdown Club.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Jane Craver Tidwell; children, Timothy J. Tidwell (Dee), Terrence L. Tidwell (Nicole) and Charles R. Tidwell, III (Audra); twelve grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
