Charles C. Rozier, born on April 19, 1944, in Macon, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home with loved ones near in Lizella, Ga on June 19, 2024. Charles was a proud veteran who served in the US Army from 1966 to 1968. He dedicated 30 years of his life to working at Warner Robins AFB.
Throughout his life, Charles was known for his strong faith and spirituality. He was honest to a fault and deeply patriotic. He graduated from Dudley Hughes High School in 1963. Charles had a variety of hobbies and interests, including researching genealogy, spending time with his family, rescuing animals, listening to music, and gardening. Charles coached Charlene and Charron for many hours and days during their softball years. After retirement he became more involved in genealogy research passing the information and love of research on to his daughter Dee. He spent many hours looking for cemeteries with the help of his daughter Charlene. He also found a love of making copper art that he learned from blind rehab.
Charles was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Sharon Mullis Rozier, as well as his sisters JoAnn Foster, Judy Conner, Lorayne Erickson, Emma Williams, and infants Ida Janice Rozier and Connie Vaughn. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Danny Rozier, James Rozier, and David Rozier.
He is survived by his sister Betty & Ken Goings of Macon; brothers Blayne & Robin Vaughn of Kansas and life long best friend Bill Mitchell of Macon. He also leaves behind three daughters: Charron Taylor of Warner Robins, Charlene & Jerry Beard of Byron, and Dee & Doug Lockard of Musella; a loving grandfather to Josh & Beth Taylor, Ryan & Rachel Grinstead, Hunter Grinstead (whom he affectionately called his Son-Son), Stephanie Taylor, Sam & Ashley Lockard, Kim & Joel Giroski, Angela & Eftim Bogoev; and seven great-grandchildren: Kaelon, Sophia, Noah, Clayton, Dallas, Addy and Avi. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends whom he cherished deeply.
Married since 1969, Charles shared a special bond with his late wife, Sharon. Their love was a testament to the commitment and strength of their relationship. Charles will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his family.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday June 22, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Bass Road to honor and celebrate the life of Charles C. Rozier. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Disabled American Veterans and Blinded American Veterans in his memory.
A special message of gratitude is extended to his longtime friend of more than 60 years, Bill Mitchell, who was like a brother. Also to the dedicated staff Three Rivers, specifically Nurse Jessica, for years of care. Most recently Heartland Hospice who provided compassionate care during his final days; Nurses Roy, Marla, Sabrina and Ethel. Charles touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
