GRAY, GA - Cecil Alton NeSmith, Sr., age 91, passed away on May 25, 2010 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 28, 2010 at Bellevue Baptist Church at 3P.M. with Dr. Aubrey Sheats and Dr. Neal Wall officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Bellevue Baptist Church Building Fund, 5925 Price Road, Macon, GA 31220.
Mr. NeSmith was born in 1919 to the late Monroe NeSmith and Donie Jones NeSmith. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was an active church and Sunday school member and deacon at Bellevue Baptist Church. He was a very loving and caring father and grandfather who will be missed dearly. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris E. NeSmith.
He is survived by his two sons, Cecil Alton NeSmith, Jr. (Janie) of Gray and Johnny R. NeSmith (Merilyn) of Dublin; six grandchildren, Cecilia Cohen (Brian) of Guyton, GA, Nancy Jaindl (Chris) of Gray, Kathy Pecore (Scott) of Madison, GA, Cheryl Kennedy (Reed) of Statesboro, Lynn Bryan (Jay) of Dexter, and Patty Portwood (Brian) of Dublin; eleven great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery is in charge of the arrangements.
