Carolyn Cooper Williams passed away and went to heaven on November 6. 2024 at age 86. Her funeral will be held at the Ingleside Baptist Church Chapel on Monday, November 11 at 11:00AM. A celebration of life will be held in The Grande at Carlyle Place, 5300 Zebulon Road in Macon on Sunday, November 10 from 4 to 6PM. Burial will be private for family only in Riverside Cemetery. Dr. Mark Hudgins will officiate.
Carolyn was born to Oliver P. Cooper Sr. and Georgia Reid Armistead Cooper of Montgomery, Alabama on December 4, 1937. She graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery, AL in 1956 and attended Auburn University, She said she grabbed a tiger by the tail and married Floyd Williams in 1960.
Carolyn had four children Mark Tol Williams (Vera), Teri Williams Carter (Darrel), Carol Williams Babcock (Chris), and James Floyd (Jim) Williams (Jenny). Ten grandchildren, Nikolas Williams, Galia Williams, Rebecca Saye (John), Georgia Pattison (Ben), Thomas Babcock, Addie Babcock, Brooke Williams, Courtney Williams, Drake Williams, and Gavin Williams. Five great grandchildren, Magnolia Saye, Brice Saye, Clayton Saye, Henley Saye, and Oliver Babcock and a brother Oliver P. Cooper Jr.
Carolyn worked for the Gulf Oil Corporation District Office in Montgomery, AL and for the Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company District Office (Branch & Shank), Montgomery, AL as the Office Manager. She was the Pastor's Secretary (Bobby Johns) at Ingleside Baptist Church and was the Corporate Secretary for Williams & Associates, Inc in Macon. Carolyn was an active member of the DAR and UDC, was a past president of the Suburban Garden Club and was a member of a sewing club called the Knit Wits. She was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church, the Bowman Crowley Sunday School Class and taught Sunday School when her children were young. Her main hobby was tennis and she loved her tennis friends and was a member of her beloved team "The Focus Group".
