Brenda Askew Griffin, age 74, of Byron, Georgia passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Central Fellowship Baptist Church. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Pastor Rodney Queen, Todd Bishop and Josh Queen will officiate. The family will greet friends from 6 PM until 8 PM Tuesday at Central Fellowship Baptist Church.
Brenda was born June 8, 1947, in Sandersville, Georgia, and was the daughter of the late Ruth Mae Morris Askew and Doc Pierce Askew, Jr. and was preceded in death by her brother, Terry Dean Askew.
She worked at Central Fellowship Christian Academy for 43 years where she was most recently the financial secretary and was known to be called "Sarge". Brenda was a member of Central Fellowship Baptist Church for 48 years, having done various jobs at the church including being a nursery worker where she was called Grandma Brenda and Memaw Brenda. She loved shopping (looking), gardening and her Atlanta Braves. Brenda, known as Gigi, also dearly loved her grandchildren and watched them grow up playing sports. Her homemade banana pudding will be missed by many.
Brenda is survived by her husband of 52 years, Harold Griffin; children, Kevin Griffin (Kim) and Tiffany Shealy (Todd); grandchildren, Kannon Griffin, Konnor Griffin, Kaden Griffin and Tanner Shealy and a number of nieces and nephews and a host of close friends.
