MACON – Betty P. Hancock, 86, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday at the First Christian Church. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. William H. Hammonds and Rev. John Carroll will officiate. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the First Christian Church, 2306 Vineville Avenue, Macon 31204.
Mrs. Hancock was born in Bibb County in 1925 and lived here for her entire life. She was the daughter of the late Ulric McCord Penn and the late Fannie Peurifoy Penn. She attended Miller High School and Business Training Institute. Mrs. Hancock worked in the mortgage loan field for about 35 years.
Mrs. Hancock was a member of First Christian Church, where she was Historian and Chairman of the Endowment Memorials Fund. She was Secretary of the Covenant Class Sunday School and Secretary of the Vineville Christian Towers Board. Mrs. Hancock was a former member of the Appraisal Institute, Macon Board of Realtors, and Warner Robins Board of Realtors, where she was given a “Special Person Award” in 1990.
Mrs. Hancock is survived by her daughter, Sandra Bryant (Charles) of Macon; nieces, Denise Porter of Piedmont, SC, Donna Penn and Debra Osborn; nephew, James Penn, Jr. of Macon.
