Benjamin Kelly Towles, 92, passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2018 surrounded by his family. A Celebration of his Life will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Corbitt officiating. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany Baptist Church, 365 Pea Ridge Road, Juliette, GA 31046 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Kelly was born in Round Oak, Georgia to the late Thomas and Eula Mae Maynard Towles. He was preceded in death by his wives, Vivian Madeline Towles and Elizabeth Dean Towles, four sisters and three brothers. Kelly served in the United States Army during World War II and drove General Patton. He was retired from the United States Postal Service where he was a Mechanic. Kelly attended Daystar Church and was a Mason. He was a breakfast club member at Johnny V’s and the dinner club at Cracker Barrell for many years. He was a devoted and loving father, granddaddy, great granddaddy, great great granddaddy, brother and uncle.
He is survived by his children, Carol Towles of Macon, Nancy (Skeet) Cross of Macon, Kelly Towles, Jr. of Gainesville, Becky Hampton of Adairsville, and Rev. Bill (Marge) Hampton of Arkansas, eleven grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
