Barbara Jean Johnson, 86, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Snow’s @ Macon Memorial Park with Rev. Cile Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends Friday, November 3, 2023 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The following will serve as pallbearers, Britt Adkins, Bobby Adkins, Bart Tharpe, David Sangster, and Santhosh Reddy.
Barbara was born in Augusta, Georgia to the late Ernest and Jessie Hillman, and was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Johnson, Sr.; and sisters, Jenette Bleckeley, and Violet Puckett; and brother, Bucky Hillman. She was a member of Bloomfield Methodist Church in Macon, Georgia and then became a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Twiggs, County. She loved to do crossword puzzle books, watch game shows, and take care of her yard. She also loved to go camping and listening to gospel and bluegrass music.
She is survived by her children, Ben Johnson, Jr.; daughter, Elisha (Scott) Tharpe; grandson, Brandon (Haley) Tharpe; step-grandson, Timothy Tharpe; furbaby, Libby; and numerous nieces and nephews.
