Barbara Mae Gordon, 77, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 11, 2015 in Greenville, S.C., a devoted wife, mother, Christian and businesswoman. A Celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. A luncheon will be provided at the funeral home following the service. Burial will be at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Lizella, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations are accepted to the Barbara Gordon Memorial Fund at the First Baptist Church of Winter Park, 1021 N. New York Ave., Winter Park, FL 32789.
Mrs. Gordon, born June 26, 1937, graduated from A.L. Miller High School in 1955 and spent most of her early life in the Middle Georgia area, before she and her late husband, Marshall Gordon, moved to Hollywood, FL, in 1973, and to Maitland, FL in 1979, where they resided for more than 35 years. She recently moved to Greenville, SC to be near her family.
Her business career included working for Retail Credit Company in Macon, before becoming a top salesperson for Virco Manufacturing. While at Virco, Mrs. Gordon was recognized numerous times for outstanding national sales achievement. She retired from Virco in 1999.
A devout Baptist, Mrs. Gordon and her husband of 57 years were active in the First Baptist Church of Winter Park, Maitland, FL as well as the Bethel Baptist Church in Lizella.
She is survived by her son, Marshall Randall Gordon of Greenville and his wife, Karen; a granddaughter, Megan Tew, of Greenville and her husband, James; two sisters, Norma Jean White and Ernestine Hamm, both of Lizella; and a brother, Tom Madden of Taos, NM and several nieces and nephews.
