Blue Ridge, VA- Allen (Jack) Myers, 71, passed away at his home in Blue Ridge, VA, on Wednesday, September 19, 2012.

Proud, loyal and strong are words that best describe Jack. He was born on December 11, 1940. He was a native of Macon, GA and received his bachelor's of science in Business Administration from North Georgia College in Dahlonega, GA. Jack had a deep love and devotion to the military and served 37 years in the US Army and Army Reserves, retiring as a Major. Jack was also a Sales director for Texaco and later retired from a 15-year career with Kroger.

Jack is preceded in death by his mother, Trellie Huff; grandmother Mamie Huff; brother Ronald Harrell; aunt Mary Harrell and uncle Slayton Harrell.

Above everything, Jack made his family his top priority. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 46 years, JoAnne and his two daughters - Shannon Myers of Seattle, WA; Holly Marden (Josh Marden) of Blue Ridge, VA; grandson Thomas Marden; his brother Donald Harrell of Macon, GA; his sister Linda Evans (Jerry Evans) of Warner Robins, GA and many members of a large, close family.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 24, 2012 at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Ave. Macon GA. Interment will follow in Macon Memorial Park. Visitation will be Sunday, September 23rd from 5:00 until 7:00 P. M. at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Ave. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Carilion Hospice, 1615 Franklin Road, Roanoke, VA 24016. Arrangements by Oakey's East Chapel, 540-977-3909.
