William O. “Bill” Theiss, Jr., 61, of Rockford, IL, passed away suddenly, Sunday, September 30, 2018. Bill was born February 21, 1957 in Chillicotche, MO, the son of William and Vestiline (Wagner) Theiss Sr., He graduated from Jefferson High School, and was a Union Painter with Local 607 for many years. Bill married Sharon Mortellaro on May 4, 1996. He enjoyed fishing, and being on the water. Bill was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, playing the drums and cooking. Most of all, he loved gathering with family and friends.
Bill is loved and missed by his children, Kyle (Elizabeth) Theiss, Trey (Miranda) Theiss; grandchildren, Esther, Coral and Jedd Theiss; siblings, Calvin (Bonnie) Theiss, Pauline “Dody” Stanley, and Edward (Connie) Theiss; brother-in-law, and special friend, Ron Mortellaro; the mother of his children, Sheryl Brown; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon, fiancé, Ruth Kehoe, parents, and brother, James “Tracy” Theiss.
A funeral service with a time of sharing will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m., until the time of sharing. Entombment is Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the family.
