Verona Ritter

She was born July 25, 1933 in Rockford, daughter of John F. and Fredericka (Larson) Nelson. She graduated from East High in 1951.She married Donald T. Ritter on February 1, 1954 in Rockford. He preceded her in death on June 12, 1981.

Verona is survived by five children; Michael Sr.(Debra) Ritter of Rockford, Donald D. Ritter of Machesney Park, David (Dar) Ritter of Machesney Park, Marla (Bill) Kuhn of Pardeeville, WI and Mary Jo (Kevin) Petrie of Mount Morris. Five grandchildren; April, Michael Jr., Kristine, Brian Ritter and Brian Petrie, one step-granddaughter, Katie Austin, six great grandkids, her sister Violet Pettepiece, one step-sister; Phyllis (Reed) Ostrander, one sister-in-law; Patricia Nelson and many nieces and nephews and very good friend of many years John Lind.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Step-Mother; Judith, and one brother Le Roy Nelson.

A private funeral service will be held at a later date at Sunset Funeral Home at 8800 North Alpine Rd in Machesney Park. A private entombment will take place following services.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Winnebago County or the Lou Gehrig Disease foundation.
