Stephen A. “Steve” Tracy, 63, of Rockford, passed away peacefully, Monday evening, April 22, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 23, 1956 in Lancaster, WI, the son of Dale and Alice (Nicholson) Tracy. Steve married Shaann “Shay” Williams on January 15, 2000. He worked as a master mechanic in Rockford, and enjoyed wrenching on anything. Steve liked being outdoors, and was always repairing something even if it didn’t need it. He loved music and movies, especially John Wayne, Clint Eastwood and The Three Stooges. Steve was known for being a jokester, and starting some infamous food fights. He was an avid Rockford Speedway fan. Steve was an extremely kind and generous man who would do anything for anyone. He was the patriarch of our family who loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Steve is loved and missed by his wife, Shay; his father, Dale; children, Doug Tracy, Preston Singleton, Misty Singleton, Danielle Tracy, Diana Tracy, and Samantha Tracy; grandchildren, Julia, Chassy, Elizabeth, Sarah, Jonathan, Christopher, Jacob, Kirra, Landin, Gavin, Dominic, and Kaliyah. Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Alice and his brother, Chris Tracy.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to the family.
