Stella Josephine Hawks passed away after a long illness November 25, 2010 in Marietta, GA just a few days short of her 76th birthday. She was born November 30, 1934 in Belvidere, IL to Norman and Shirley Webster and attended Belvidere public schools. She married Lloyd R. Hawks on September 16, 1951 at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Rockford, officiated by Rev. Eldridge Gilbert. Stella had 42 years of service with Valspar Color Corporation, starting as a Lab Tech and retiring as the supervisor of Technical Services in June 1997. Stella was a member of Miles Memorial CME Church for over 50 years and was an active humanitarian in her community. Stella’s greatest pleasure was being with her family and traveling. Survivors include her husband, Lloyd Hawks, daughter, Brenda Hawks-McCray, granddaughter, Aleah Hawks, both of Marietta, GA, sister Mrs. Ada Harris, brother, Michael (Barbara) Webster, and brother-in-law, Archie (Pearl) Hawks, sister-in-laws, Mary Mure, Mary Hawks, and Cassaundra Hawks. Stella is also survived by dozens of nieces and nephews, four of which Terry and Troy Stoudermire, Everett Hawks Jr, Michele Webster Freeman she was very proud to have as God children. Stella was predeceased by four brothers, Norman Webster Jr., Russell Webster, Orville Webster and Maurice Webster. At Stella’s request there will be a small private service at the Chapel at Sunset Funeral Home on Friday, December 3, 2010.
